CHERYL Cole has finally buckled under the pressure of her marriage crisis by scrapping a string of TV and radio gigs.

Singer Cheryl Cole has been hit by bronchitis and had no choice but to pull the plug on her appearance on tonight’s Jonathan Ross show.

Cheryl has been under immense strain since announcing she was separating from cheating husband Ashley Cole.

Sources close to her say she is “very, very low”, sparking fears for her health. And Ashley is desperate to fly back to the UK to be by her side.

Pals say she is struggling to come to terms with her marriage problems and does not want to leave the house.

Cheryl was due to film Friday Night With Jonathan Ross last night but cancelled. She also pulled out of a Radio 1 session on Fearne Cotton’s show.

Doctors have told her she is far too sick to carry on with her hectic schedule. Now she is holed up at home and struggling to leave her bed.

The lung infection can leave sufferers laid up for as long as three months.

An insider said: “Cheryl has been a trouper up until now but the pressure has finally got to her.

“She is very sick and feeling very, very low. The bronchitis has knocked her clean off her feet.”

Cheryl, 26, had been due to do several weeks of promotion for her new single Parachute.

But she is staying at the marital home she once shared with Ashley and mum Joan is caring for her.

Last night her spokesman said: “Cheryl has had to postpone all promotion until she is better.”

Cheryl ended her marriage after it emerged Ashley had sent a string of sexy texts and half-naked photos to women.

Meanwhile, Ashley has been recovering at a French sports injury clinic with a broken ankle. But last night it emerged he was planning to leave the moment doctors give him the all-clear.

The Chelsea star, 29, has a car on standby to take him to an airport where club owner Roman Abramovich’s jet will fly him to the UK.

He will be assessed later today and has told fellow patients he is leaving “whatever they say”.

A patient said: “There is a car on standby and a plane waiting to go. It is like a military operation.

“He’s had a long time to think about what he wants to say to his wife. Now he just wants to get on with it.

“I don’t know what he’ll do if doctors say he needs to stay. He’ll probably sneak on to the roof and be whisked away by helicopter.”

As a sufferer I know how dreadful it is and I hope she gets over it fully and knocks the cigarettes on the head cos they are the worst contributor to this illness plus being so low and depressed from the breakdown would only have added to her woes. ” ( Inappropriate Comment? Its probably "winter flu" get a grip. There are far more serious and genuine stories like the guy who was kidnapped and has spoken out for the 1st time over his imprisonment and torture in Iraq, now thats a story of genuine courage and determination to survive, not some silly little pop star who has more money than sense and a wayward husband.
